II Anti-smog Forum “Stopping the smog. Challenges and solutions for Poland”

On March 29, 2019 The II Anti-smog Forum “Stopping the smog. Challenges and solutions for Poland” took place in Ustroń Health Resort.

The Forum is a place for meetings, exchanges of views and searching for new solutions in the fight against smog, becoming more and more dangerous for our health. The task of the gathered guests was to develop new and comprehensive ways of effective fight against air pollution and to raise the social awareness of smog’s health impact. The strongest emphasis was placed on the risk caused by smog in Poland, the role of various social groups in struggles with a danger, modern technology helping in daily choices and economic and social effects of smog.

The event was organized by American Heart of Poland and Ustroń Health Resort in cooperation with Eleven Zett Productions and the National Association of Patients with Heart & Vessel Disorders "EcoSerce". The guests were greeted by prof. Paweł Buszman, President of the Board of American Heart of Poland and Adam Rybicki, Vice-President of the Board and Medical Director of Ustroń Health Resort. The inaugural lecture entitled "Laudatio si ', mi' Signore '. The Church in defense of man and the environment" was spoken by the Representative of Archbishop Wiktor Skworca, Metropolitan of the Katowice - Witold Kania PhD, lecturer at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia. The conference was attended by experts in the field of healthcare, physicians, representatives of the government and self-government, patient and senior organizations.

The conference was divided into three main parts - diagnosis of the situation, awaiting challenges and possible solutions. In total, the audience listened to dozens of substantive lectures, and two expert debates: "Challenges: Stopping the smog, challenges and solutions for Poland. The regional and national perspective” and “Solutions. Daily choices in the fight against smog."

In summary, the event attracted over 170 participants and 23 media representatives. Among many honorary patrons of the event were Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Marshal of the Silesia Voivodeship, President of the City of Katowice, Mayor of Ustroń, The National Institute of the Senior, Polish Non-Governmential Organizations Forum (OFIP), “Wygrać zdrowie!” Foundation  or “EcoSerce” Association.

Eleven Zett Productions was responsible for the organization and media support of the event.
